District Leaders Attend Global Membership Summit in Atlanta
District 5M8 leadership joined Lions from around the world at the Global Membership Summit in Atlanta to collaborate, share ideas, and prepare for the upcoming Lions year.
Purpose of the Summit
The Global Membership Summit brought together Lions leaders from every constitutional area for a focused conversation on one topic: how do we grow Lions in a way that lasts? The multi-day event in Atlanta blended keynote sessions, working groups, and small-group problem solving.
International Collaboration
District 5M8 leadership had the chance to sit alongside Lions from Africa, Asia, Europe, and across the Americas. Hearing how clubs half a world away tackle the same challenges we do — membership, engagement, next-generation leadership — was a reminder that we belong to a truly global movement.
Membership Ideas We're Bringing Home
- Modernizing how new-member orientation is delivered
- Building on strengths of family memberships and student memberships
- Simple digital tools that make joining a club easier

Meeting International President Mark Lyon
A highlight of the trip was meeting International President Mark Lyon. His encouragement to district leaders was clear: make Lions the most welcoming service organization in your community, and growth follows.
